We have an active research section, as we believe that knowledge is critical to developing robust conservation strategies for the four African pangolin species. Our research program is led by a team of seasoned academics who, in collaboration with other collaborators, supervise and mentor our post-graduate students. The research topics are diverse and largely reflect the prevailing research needs as well as the feasibility of individual research projects.
We have identified and prioritised a number of research projects, which are designed to answer important conservation questions. Students who would like to undertake a post-graduate research project on pangolins are welcome to contact us for a list of identified projects, or can propose their own research topic. Each project is evaluated individually based on the present knowledge gaps and the feasibility of the project. All research projects are first reviewed by the Executive Committee and are also subject to approval by the Ethics Committee of the relevant tertiary institution where the student is registered.
