1000 Km Challenge

1000 Km Challenge

The 1000 km Challenge is an initiative that was started in 1990 in memory of the late Johnny Kambouris who was a keen road-runner. The Challenge is simple - runners (or walkers) register with the organisation and aim to run or walk a predetermined distance (usually 500 km or 1 000 km) in road and trial races in a year (the period between two successive comrades marathons). In addition to meeting new friends and experiencing the great outdoors, The 1 000 km challenge supports a different charity every year by donating R 10 from each participant's entry fees towards that charity. During the 2015-2016 season, the African Pangolin Working Group is supported by the charity. So get your running shoes on, get registered and support the African Pangolin Working Group while you are enjoying the great outdoors!
